Sunset FAQ

  • When will Big Fish Backup go away? We will begin sunsetting Big Fish Backup in January 2025 and will completely shut it down by end of March 2025.
  • Why is Big Fish Backup going away? Changes in data backup technology and cloud storage preferences have changed the way people store their data. Consequently there is less need for a backup solution for files and folders stored on the local computer. Also wage inflation and other inflationary costs have made it too costly for us to continue to offer Big Fish Backup for free.
  • Will Big Fish offer a paid backup solution? Yes and no. We already offer data backup solutions through our partnership with Datto. These solutions back up Microsoft 365 application storage for Outlook email (Exchange), SharePoint, and OneDrive. But no, we will not offer a backup solution for files and folders on a local computer.
  • What happens to my backed up files and folders? All data in Big Fish Backup storage repositories will be deleted as part of the sunsetting process.
  • Does Big Fish Technology have any suggestions and/or preferences if I still need a local computer data back up solution? We recommend using the backup option found inside of Microsoft OneDrive. If you do not already have OneDrive as part of your Microsoft 365 subscription, we can help! More information about this will be posted to this site.
